This report systematizes study leave policies and their characteristics in 27 selected countries, which belong to different regions of the world. It is a subject scarcely explored and for which there is no information available and even less systematized data in a comparative way among countries, except in the case of European countries. The report presents a typology according to the level of protection of workers' right to training. The countries are divided into four groups: no protection, restricted protection, moderate protection and strong protection. The report concludes with some recommendations for further research and challenges to continue reflecting on the relevance of study leave for the protection of workers’ training.
