Programme : 
The theme of the Malmo Congress will focus on the interplay between policy, research and practice in education. It brings the relationship between school leaders and politicians on national/state and local levels to the forefront. How political policy – both national/state and local – is understood and implemented at the local school level becomes an important research question. It also sets a focus on the relationship between teachers and researchers: What do these relationships look like, and how can they improve children’s development and students’ results in areas such as self-esteem, motivation, social competence, well-being and achievement? It also puts in forefront in what way students interplay with stakeholders when it comes to policy-making.

      The programme will include lectures by eminent researchers, school developers and policy makers. Important are also the presentations of research and development work carried out in parallel workshops, plus ample opportunities for discussions in various groups.

      Sub-themes

      1. Interplay between levels
      a. The interplay between the local level, teachers and school leaders, but also educational stake holders on other levels, and the district municipality or nation/state level (Bottom-up).
      b. The interplay between the nation/state level and practitioners on district/municipality or local school level, as politicians, school leaders or teachers (Top-down).

      2. Community Interplay
      Interplay between educational partners and stakeholders which rather could be described from a community
      model.

      3. Children’s, student’s and teacher’s voices in the shaping of educational organizations and praxis.

      4. Professional development of teachers and schoolleaders in support for school improvement, children’s development and student outcome such as positive self esteem, motivation, social competence well-being and achievement.
