Programme :

The Department of Education and Learning of the University of Applied Sciences and Arts of Southern Switzerland invites researchers and professionals in the field of positive psychology, well-being and education to submit proposals for the 2nd International Conference on Well-being in Education Systems, organized by the Competence centre for Innovation and Research on Education Systems (CIRSE).

Psychological research has made progress in providing a solid basis for reflection on the importance of well-being in education systems as well as on the tools and actions for promoting it. Evidence shows that well-being in education systems has clear positive effects on both students and teachers: teachers can work and teach better in an environment where they experience positive emotions, feel fulfilled and engage in supportive and non-conflicting relationships; less stressed students, who experience positive emotions, good social interaction and a safe environment, can learn better and are less exposed to health and developmental risks.

Measuring, promoting, protecting, monitoring and enhancing the well-being of students and teachers can be the starting point for a reflection on education systems and their future, where well-being becomes a primary goal rather than an incidental positive side effect of virtuous educational policies.

The 2nd edition of the International Conference on Well-being in Education Systems aims at orienting the scientific debate towards a new perspective: well-being as an individual and social resource, well-being as a necessary prerequisite to achieve educational objectives, well-being as a tool of equity and inclusion.

Following the lead of the first edition, the Conference wishes to bring together teachers, researchers and practitioners to foster a debate where theory meets practice.
