WERA 2020 > 2021 Focal Meeting together with 17th Spanish and 9th Ibero-American Education Conferences - Networking Education - Diverse realities, common horizons

Date :  du 07-07-2021 au 09-07-2021

Appel à communications ouvert jusqu'au :  15-01-2021

Lieu :  à distance

Modalité :  intégralement à distance

Organisation :  World Education Research Association (WERA)

In response to the enduring international uncertainty of the COVID-19 pandemic, the World Education Research Association (WERA), and Sociedad Espanola de Pedagogía (SEP) in conjunction with Universidad de Santiago de Compostela, have decided to revert from a place-based WERA Focal Meeting to an online conference to be held from 7th to 9th July 2021. The Meeting is an integral part of the 17th Spanish & 9th Ibero-American Education Conference, organized by the Spanish Pedagogical Society (SEP) and the University of Santiago de Compostela.

The Spanish Pedagogical Society is one of the oldest education science societies in the world. It was created in 1906 and later re-founded in 1949. Since that year, it has published the journal Bordon, Revista de Pedagogia, with its four issues yearly.

Although WERA would have preferred an in-person meeting in the beautiful Santiago de Compostela, Spain, the uncertainty that remains around the COVID-19 pandemic meant that this is not feasible. Not only would a place-based meeting in the current circumstances be difficult to plan, but would also compromise the safety and well-being of all of our attendees. However, WERA is looking forward to the multiple opportunities and worldwide collaboration that a virtual meeting generates and is exploring a wide range of creative, interactive and innovative formats and events to ensure a rigorous and engaging experience for all.

All accepted submissions (including Invited Symposia) for the WERA 2020+1 Focal Meeting are considered as valid for the WERA 2021 Virtual Focal Meeting. Accepted submissions will retain a position in the programme and a paid registration fee will be valid for the WERA 2021 Virtual Focal Meeting.

Programme :

The World Education Research Association (WERA) is an association of major national, regional, and specialty education research associations dedicated to sharing scholarship, developing networks, and mutually supporting capacity building.

Each year, WERA holds a Focal Meeting in conjunction with the Regular Meeting of a WERA member association. Previous WERA Focal Meetings have been held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2010); Kaohsiung, Taiwan (2011); Sydney, Australia (2012); Guanajuato, Mexico (2013); Edinburgh, Scotland (2014); Budapest, Hungary (2015); Washington DC, USA (2016); Hong Kong, China (2017); and Tokyo, Japan (2019). In 2018, the first-ever WERA World Congress was held in Cape Town, South Africa.

The main theme of the 17th Spanish & 9th Ibero-American Education Conference and the WERA 2020+1 Focal Meeting will be Networking Education: Diverse Realities, Common Horizons. This motto represents an opportunity for reflection and proposal of shared action from diverse historical and cultural contexts, although linked by idiosyncratic connections, which form an emerging scenario.

Submissions are now closed for the WERA 2020+1 Focal Meeting.
